This Privacy Policy explains how Knowverse collects, uses, stores, and discloses personal data when you use the Knowverse mobile application and related services.

Knowverse is a microlearning application that provides educational content in short, step-by-step learning units and allows users to save content and track their learning activity.

1. Information We Collect

Account information

You may create a Knowverse account using Sign in with Apple or Google Sign-In.

When you register, Knowverse may receive your name, email address, and a unique account identifier from the selected authentication provider.

Knowverse does not receive or store the password associated with your Apple or Google account.

Learning and account activity

Knowverse processes information associated with the use of your account, including learning content, saved content, course activity, completion information, progress, preferences, and related account history.

This information is used to provide the application's account, learning, saving, and progress-tracking functionality.

Technical information

Certain technical information may be generated or processed automatically when you use Knowverse or interact with its supporting infrastructure. This may include:

Advertising information

Knowverse uses Google AdMob to display advertisements.

Personalised advertising is provided only where the required consent and device permissions have been obtained.

Push-notification information

Knowverse may process a device notification token and related technical information to send course reminders.

Push notifications are used for learning reminders and application functionality. They are not used for marketing communications.

Knowverse does not collect precise real-time location information from your device.

2. How We Use Personal Data

3. Legal Bases for Processing

Where the General Data Protection Regulation or another law requiring a legal basis applies, Knowverse processes personal data on the following grounds.

Performance of a contract. Account information and learning activity are processed where necessary to create and maintain your account and provide the features of Knowverse.

Consent. Consent is relied upon where required for personalised advertising, advertising-related tracking, device permissions, and push notifications.

You may withdraw your consent at any time through the privacy settings available within Knowverse or through the relevant settings on your device.

Withdrawal of consent does not affect processing carried out lawfully before the withdrawal.

Legitimate interests. Technical, security, diagnostic, and operational information may be processed where necessary for the legitimate interests of operating, protecting, maintaining, and improving Knowverse.

Legal obligations. Personal data may be processed or retained where necessary to comply with applicable laws, regulatory requirements, court orders, or valid requests from public authorities.

4. Advertising

Knowverse uses Google AdMob to provide advertisements within the application.

Where permitted by your consent choices, advertising may be personalised using information processed by Google and its advertising partners. Where personalised advertising has not been authorised, non-personalised or limited advertisements may be displayed.

You may review or change your advertising choices through the privacy settings available within Knowverse.

On Apple devices, tracking may also be subject to permission requested through Apple's App Tracking Transparency framework.

Refusing personalised advertising or tracking permission does not prevent you from using the principal features of Knowverse.

5. Service Providers

Knowverse uses third-party services to operate and provide the application.

Google Cloud. Google Cloud provides hosting, storage, infrastructure, security, and related technical services.

Knowverse's primary application data is hosted in a European Google Cloud region.

Google AdMob. Google AdMob and participating advertising partners may process device, advertising, and technical information for advertisement delivery, measurement, personalisation, security, and fraud prevention.

Google Sign-In. Google processes information when you choose to register or sign in using your Google account.

Sign in with Apple. Apple processes information when you choose to register or sign in using your Apple account.

Push-notification services. Apple or another applicable notification provider may process device tokens and delivery information necessary to send course reminders.

These providers may process personal data in accordance with their own privacy notices and applicable contractual arrangements.

8. Data Retention and Account Deletion

Account information and learning activity are retained for as long as your Knowverse account remains active.

You may delete your account directly through the application. Following deletion, your account and associated personal data will be removed from active systems and scheduled for permanent deletion.

Residual copies may remain in backup, recovery, or deletion systems for up to approximately 30 days.

Deleting the application from your device does not automatically delete your Knowverse account. Account deletion must be completed through the account settings within the application.

Information processed independently by third-party providers may be retained in accordance with their respective retention policies.

10. Children's Privacy

Knowverse is intended for users aged 13 years and older.

Knowverse does not knowingly collect personal data from children under the age of 13.

In jurisdictions where a higher minimum age applies to consent-based processing, a parent or legal guardian may be required to provide or authorise consent for certain optional processing activities.

Where Knowverse becomes aware that personal data has been collected from a child contrary to applicable law, reasonable steps will be taken to delete the information.

11. Data Security

Knowverse applies reasonable technical and organisational measures designed to protect personal data against unauthorised access, unlawful disclosure, alteration, accidental loss, destruction, and misuse.

This Privacy Policy may be updated to reflect changes to Knowverse, its features, service providers, advertising practices, or applicable legal requirements.
